International Maritime Organization: About 20000 seafarers and 15000 cruise passengers in the Gulf region will be affected
London, March 5 (Xinhua) (Reporter Gao Wencheng) International Maritime Organization Secretary-General Domingos stated on the 5th that recent incidents of international ships being attacked in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz have occurred, and he expressed concern for the safety of approximately 20,000 seafarers and 15,000 cruise passengers affected in the Gulf region.
"The International Maritime Organization is willing to cooperate with all stakeholders to jointly ensure the safety and well-being of affected seafarers," Domingos said in a statement, "I once again urge all shipping companies to maintain the highest vigilance when operating in affected waters, and also call on all parties to work together to ease the situation as soon as possible, so that shipping can resume normal operations."
